Frequently asked questions
What is the best POS for a phone and accessories shop in Freetown?
One that follows each handset by its IMEI. ArmPOS records the number when the phone is received from your supplier and again when it is sold, so if a customer brings one back you can see who supplied it and when, and take the matter up with them. Accessories sit in the same inventory as ordinary stock, and the shop runs on the phone or laptop already on your counter.
Is Orange Money the only mobile money I can take?
In Sierra Leone, yes: Orange Money is the wallet ArmPOS collects, at the counter and in your online shop, once the shop is on a paid plan and linked to its own MarzPay account. Customers who would rather pay cash still can, and the payments report shows the cash and the Orange Money apart, so the drawer and the wallet are checked on their own.
My pharmacy in Bo restocks from Freetown. How do I know what to order before the trip?
Set an alert quantity on every medicine you keep. When the count on hand reaches it, that medicine appears under the notification bell, on the dashboard and in the Product Quantity Alerts report, and by the end of the week the list for the Freetown trip is ready to go on one purchase order. Deliveries are received in batches with their expiry dates, and the earliest-dated batch is sold first.
Cement got wet in the rains and went hard. How do I take it out of stock?
Write it off as damage. ArmPOS keeps damaged goods apart from sales, so twenty spoilt bags are recorded as damage in the rainy season instead of turning up later as twenty bags nobody can find. When you count the yard, download the count sheet for that warehouse, enter what is really there, and adjust the difference.
What does ArmPOS cost in leones?

Grow past that and you upgrade from Orange Money, paying the leone amount ArmPOS works out at the day's rate. Where are my sales records kept, and who else can see them?
Your business has a database of its own, separate from every other shop on ArmPOS, and the connection between your device and it is encrypted. Every member of staff signs in with a personal login, and their role limits what they can open, so a sales assistant works the till without reaching the profit report or the supplier accounts.
I supply shops upcountry on credit. Can ArmPOS show who still owes me?
Yes. Each buyer carries a running balance and a credit limit that the till will not let a new sale go past, and the customers report lists what every buyer still owes, with the sales and payments behind each figure. When a retailer from Makeni comes back for more stock, the old balance is on screen before the new goods are loaded.
An NGO wants a quotation and an invoice before it pays. Can ArmPOS produce them?
Yes. Put the items in a quotation, email it from ArmPOS, and once the order is confirmed, turn the quotation into a sale. The invoice comes out as a PDF or on A4 paper, and the payment is recorded against it on the day the money arrives, whether that is the same week or the end of the month.
