Containers from Portugal and elsewhere unload in Praia and Mindelo, and a good part of their cargo then sails on to another island. ArmPOS follows each load across the water and onto the shelf, and your phone shows what every island holds.

• Card on the terminal, notes in the drawer

  A visitor's card goes through your bank's terminal, and the cashier picks card as the method on that sale. The two never connect: ArmPOS keeps a record of how the bill was settled. Notes and bank transfers go in the same way, and one bill can be shared between two methods. Each terminal you add in Settings gets its own daily total.

  The escudo is fixed at 110.265 to the euro, so the escudo cost of an order from Lisbon is known before it ships. Every shelf label, till slip and profit figure is in escudos. ArmPOS plans appear in escudos on the pricing section, worked out again each day.

  A craft shop in Santa Maria sells most in the high season, when the flights from Europe fill Sal. A rabidante at Sucupira market tracks every size and colour of the clothes she brought back from Fortaleza. In Mindelo, a fish restaurant rings up each table at the till, and the kitchen display shows what to cook.

• Island to island

  Run the Sal or Boa Vista shop as a branch of the same business, with tills, staff and stock kept apart from Praia. Cartons shipped from the Praia warehouse sit on a transfer, and both islands' counts wait for a manager to approve it. Read each island's figures alone or next to the others.
