Frequently asked questions
What is the best point of sale software for a Libyan importer who also sells retail?
Choose software that covers the whole path, from the purchase order to the till. ArmPOS puts the warehouse, the wholesale counter and the shop on one account. A shipment is received there, shared out to branches and sold by the carton or the piece. Every sale updates stock and profit in dinars at once.
A container has reached the port of Misrata. How do I get its goods into the right warehouse?
Open the purchase order you placed for that shipment and mark its goods as received at the warehouse where the trucks unloaded. The count rises in that warehouse alone, and the supplier's account shows the sum outstanding. Each payment you enter lowers that balance, so you see what is still due.
My supplier sends the item list as an Excel file. Do I have to type it in line by line?
No. The supplier's spreadsheet goes straight in, because ArmPOS imports products, customers and suppliers from Excel. If you kept a record of earlier sales and purchases, a CSV file brings that history in too. Before importing, check that the names and units in the file match the way you sell. From then on, every sale and purchase keeps the counts current.
I sell cartons to shopkeepers on credit and single pieces for cash. Can ArmPOS handle both?
Yes. Tell ArmPOS once how many pieces a carton holds, 12 for instance, and every sale is converted either way. Each shopkeeper buying on credit has a balance that grows with every carton. The till blocks any sale that would take it over the ceiling you fixed. When the month closes, open the customers report to see which shopkeepers still owe you, and how much.
I stock air conditioners before the summer. Can I follow each unit by its serial number?
Yes. Enter each unit's serial number on the purchase, and it stays tied to that unit until the sale. You then know which customer bought which unit, and from which shipment it came. When a buyer comes back under warranty, search by the number to find the sale and its date.
How do I see which goods have sat in the warehouse since the last shipment?
Open the stock ageing report, which shows how long each item has been held. Beside it, the stock value report gives what each warehouse holds in dinars. Read together, they show what to mark down before you order the next container.
My sales staff bargain with shopkeepers. Can I stop them changing prices at the till?
Yes. Give every seller a personal login and a role that leaves out price changes. They can still sell and take payment, while prices stay yours to set. Sales by staff member appear in the staff reports, so you see who moved which cartons.
How do I pay for ArmPOS from Libya, and in which currency?
Through a card, charged in US dollars, so check with your bank that it allows international payments. Each paid plan shows in Libyan dinars at the day's rate, which is why the dinar figure can move from month to month.
